The postnatal period is a precious - but sometimes daunting - time for new parents. A postnatal doula can provide support to families during the postnatal period in many ways.
In my postnatal work, I see my role as 'mothering the mother (or parent)' and offering the same style of nurturing care as I do in my prenatal and birth work. I support families as they transition into parenthood, providing comfort and care so that you can enjoy this special time, look after and bond with your baby, and settle into your new role as a parent. I provide information and support to help you settle into your own rhythm and feel calm and confident.
My postnatal work covers many areas and is tailored to the individual needs of clients. Some examples of the things we may cover includes:
Support with breastfeeding, including positioning, establishing a good latch, expressing and information and signposting for troubleshooting.
Practical help and support around the home, allowing you to spend your time focusing on yourself, your family and your new baby - this can cover many areas, such as basic household chores, grocery shopping or cooking wholesome vegan meals.
Providing information and answering questions to enable you to make informed choices and empower you on your parenting journey.
Basic baby care support, such as bathing, nappy changes and winding.
Providing knowledge around baby development.
Taking care of your baby to allow you time to invest in your own self-care, such as taking a bath or having a nap.
Postnatal doula support is available by the hour or included in my doula Packages. As with all of my services, any of my other offerings can be included in my doula services to make a tailored package just for you - from pre or postnatal yoga sessions, baby massage, crystal healing, holistic sleep coaching, meditation and breathwork.
